The My Hero Academia Season 2 Part 1 Blu-ray collects the first 12 episodes of the anime's second season, covering the full U.A. Sports Festival arc, in Funimation's Blu-ray + DVD combo pack released on April 3, 2018.
This is a brand-new copy. The Blu-ray discs are Region A and the DVDs are Region 1, so both play in standard US players.
Part One adapts the U.A. Sports Festival, a televised tournament where Class 1-A competes in front of scouting pro heroes. Izuku "Deku" Midoriya has to prove himself while he is still learning to control One For All, and rivals Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki push him to his limit.
These episodes first aired in Japan on ytv/NTV from April 1 to June 17, 2017. Studio Bones produced the series, with Kenji Nagasaki directing. Standout episodes include "Cavalry Battle Finale" (episode 18), "Shoto Todoroki: Origin" (episode 23) and "Todoroki vs. Bakugo" (episode 25).
The English dub stars Justin Briner as Deku, Clifford Chapin as Bakugo, David Matranga as Todoroki, Luci Christian as Ochaco Uraraka and J. Michael Tatum as Tenya Ida.
My Hero Academia Season 2 won seven prizes at the 2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2018: Best Animation, Best Action, Best Hero (Deku), Best Villain (Stain), Best Boy (Todoroki), Best Girl (Uraraka) and Best Opening for Kenshi Yonezu's "Peace Sign".
The Blu-ray discs add "Inside the Episodes" segments, an interview, and textless opening and closing songs. Episode 13.5, "Hero Notebook," recaps season one and appears on both formats.
This listing is the standard combo pack of My Hero Academia Season Two Part One. A Limited Edition with a chipboard box and art book also exists, but those collectibles are not included.
Start from the beginning with My Hero Academia Season 1 on Blu-ray, then carry on with Season Two, Part Two, which covers the Hero Killer Stain arc and the final exams. Browse more series in our anime collection.
